His happy coach, Mogomotsi ‘Teenage’ Mpote gave him game time in the first leg of the CAF Champions League encounter.

“I had a very good game, despite the fact that I haven’t been playing for a long time. It was really motivating,” Mohutsiwa said. The 19-year-old signed a three-year deal with Popa from Palapye All Stars at the beginning of the season, but has not featured in the 14 of the 15 games that Rollers have played.

Despite limited game time, the youngster does not regret joining Popa. He knew when he signed that at first, game time would be hard to come by. The plan was to give him time to gel with the rest of the team, and he is grateful for the support from his team mates.  He has no plans of leaving Rollers although, like any other player, he would want to feature prominently.

Mochudi Centre Chiefs, Gaborone United and Extension Gunners were all interested in the youngster before Rollers snapped him.

“We have been dealing with Gape for a long time now. We know how good he is. He is a very good player and trains very hard. I am impressed with his duties with the team. We had a plan to use him and he impressed us,” Mpote said. Mpote said Mohutsiwa had a very good game even though he is lacking game time but that did not affect his performance.

“The game was tough but he managed to control our midfield very well. He is a player for the future. He is now ready to play as he is injury-free,” Mpote said.

Mohutsiwa was however, back on the bench for the second leg encounter which Rollers won 3-2 but crashed out on the away goals rule.
