Pros' battle to set Palapye's Independence Eve alight

The war is raging with a robust advertising from each end on social media. Palapye Independence Seshanyama is in its fourth edition.
It is battling to pull all the stops to fend off the dogged Pula Power Spring Festival that would be on their maiden show here on a similar date.
The Spring Festival is the brainchild of Exzozo Entertainment that has collaborated with Pula Power. On the bash day, Seshanyama will be held at Little Paws Gardens and the Spring Festival will be at Majestic Five Hotel. The events are both billed to resume in the morning.
Godwin ‘Exotic’ Sebina of Exzozo Entertainment said that before he hinted on the Spring Festival, he engaged the Seshanyama crew to inform them of his intentions to host the spring festival in Palapye and how they could meet with the possibility of merging.
He said the opposite crew indulged him and promised feedback at a later stage, but they sat on their word and attacked him on the social media. “While I was waiting for the feedback, I only realised through social media that I was being attacked for apparently trying to wrestle the date and how I cannot succeed on that,” he said.
Adding, “I don’t know how I was wrestling the date because their event has always been on Independence Day? They switched their dates when I started rolling my flyers, now the knives are out and may the best man win”.
He explained that his event is a different taste from Seshanyama, and that they are targeting revellers from all corners of the country. Exotic said he chose Palapye, as it is central and Majestic Five Hotel for safety. “I am targeting at least 15,000 people that are over 18 years old for this event. Majestic Five has proven from previous shows that it can securely host that capacity, the Hotel is appropriately positioned.” Spring Festival is billed to bring 32 local artists and two international acts, Babes Wadumo and top rapper KO, from South Africa. Amongst the local acts scheduled for the spring festival are ATI, Dramaboi, Vee Mampeezy, Motlha and Crispin the Drummer. The concepts may be varied, but Seshanyama is not amused. The organiser, Bakang Molosiwa predicts a loss for both events.
He admitted they met with Exotic, but he wanted them for an after-party of his event, “Seshanyama is a brand and cannot be an after-party of another brand.” He said from his three years of experience of hosting Seshanyama Festival in the area, the market during Independence is not as frenetic as compared to that of the festive season. “We may have to share clients, and I project disappointment. It’s only that I have a brand that I should protect and my supporters that I cannot disappoint. I am watching myself not to overstretch my budget,” Molosiwa said.
Seshanyama has a concept that will be attractive to the petrol heads. The organisers have constructed a car spinning ground at the farm.
Molosiwa said they have received interests from a number of local spinners and they are expecting a huge turnout. Amongst others, he revealed the country’s finest spinners The General, Sheriff and Magistrate would grace the event.
“We are looking beyond this event. This is a long-term investment. Spinning is here to stay. We owe it to our community of Palapye.”
The first car is scheduled to get the event rolling at 10 am. There will also be performances from a host of DJ’s, and South African Master KG will perform alongside La Timmy. The event caters for a family outing.
