Although not as big as these global events, similarly the BTC Charity Cup football tournament held over the weekend at the National Stadium would not have made sense without performances, especially from local artists.

Despite the fact that the performers were not voted for like the teams playing in the tournament they managed to keep the crowd entertained as they awaited the final between Township Rollers and Gaborone United.

It was Charma Gal who hit the ground running as she performed her popular hits.  Her performance ushered in a whole different atmosphere when Mapantsula invaded the stadium with their classic outfits.

Men and women alike, Mapantsula with their sticks and briefcases swaggered and danced with passion as hundreds of them harmoniously showcased their skills to the spectators.

Although Extension Gunners also known as Mapantsula could not make it to the cup due to lower votes, these Mapantsula on the pitch resembled a countrywide movement, which has been blossoming and getting deserved recognition.

Slizer soon hit the pitch alongside Mingo Touch.  Slizer, who has managed to remain relevant even after all these years performed songs like O Tswa Kae, which helped her to penetrate the industry many years ago.

With the absence of a stage and so many fans in different stands, it meant that Slizer had to run around the stadium like an athlete during the entire performance.

Although it was a tiring task on her part, Slizer managed to sway the fans into the excitement as they headed into the final showdown between the best teams on the day. Overall the local artists showed that they can get the job done without foreign acts.
