BDP Sack Casual Workers By WhatsApp

“Dumelang batho. Ne kere ke le itsese gore gompieno ga le te tirong because tiro e fedile. Le tla bolelelwa tiro e le teng gore le bowe. But go simolola gompieno ga gona sepe. Ke gore go hedile tota. Hedi hedi hedi, bye,” a supervisor told the employees via a voice note on their WhatsApp group.

This follows the suspension of two employees at the troubled Tsholetsa House over hacking, which led to primary elections being postponed. The BDP communication chairperson, Lesedi Dintwe downplayed the matter claiming that the casual workers’ phones might have been off and their supervisor had no choice, but to communicate with them through a WhatsApp voice note. “We had a WhatsApp group where we were communicating with them on it. It is true we do engage casual workers when we have a job for them.

“Normally, proper channels are followed, but I will investigate this one because we normally give them letters,” Dintwe said.

However, The Monitor learnt that by Friday afternoon the BDP had re-employed 15 out the 50 sacked workers.
