Investors summit on the cards

The summit, which will feature aspiring entrepreneurs, investors and financiers, will be held under the theme, ‘Igniting the spark of entrepreneurship’.

Speaking to Mmegi Business, one of the organisers, Letsogile Barupi said the purpose of the event is to inspire and offer an insightful dispatch on the available finance and investment opportunities for Batswana entrepreneurs.

“The conference will unearth opportunities on getting a fund, requirements and questions facing the private sector and explore the myriad of possibilities,” he said.

The panel will consist of successful investors, government stakeholders, business mentors and experienced financial experts to educate attendants on topics which include ways of funding by investors, investment opportunities for SMMEs, ways on registering and start up solutions for women in Botswana.

The one-day summit is in partnership with the Disabled Entrepreneurs Society, a Non-Governmental Organisation that seeks to identify Botswana’s most physically challenged entrepreneurs from disadvantaged background and equip them with the necessary skills to run their world-class businesses.

“We intend to gather women, people with disabilities, organisations, clubs and entrepreneurs in a relaxed environment infused with a positive spirit to experience financial differences in their businesses and lives in general,” he said.

He said the expo which came as a recommendation from the Funding Expo that was held last year, will have exhibitors who will include bankers, insurances, medical aids, brokers and financial institutions.

Barupi said individuals and clubs will be accorded a chance to present their ideas to potential investors and also stand a chance to be mentored by key decision makers in the world of business.

In addition the summit will allow entrepreneurs to explore new ideas, challenge perspectives, outline opportunities, and accord attendants an opportunity to network with investors thus getting insights on ways of penetrating the regional markets.
