Moagi is alleged to have raped and killed a nine-year-old girl, who was the daughter of his former girlfriend, at White City in Gaborone.  Ever since his arrest members of the public using different social media platforms have been threatening to take the law into their hands should Moagi be granted bail.

Appearing before Extension II chief magistrate Batho Kgerethwa for mention, Moagi told the court that he has submitted the name of the person who has agreed to stay with him, hence he did not know what was delaying his release from custody.

Responding, the prosecution claimed not to have been aware that Moagi had already submitted the person’s name together with their contact details, as it was suggested in the last mention.

“We are not opposing Moagi’s bail, he was granted bail on condition that he finds a place to stay besides White City where the offence was committed.  He was advised to tell that person to make his appearance in court, but that person has not yet done so,” the prosecution argued.

The prosecution went on to state that committal documents in the matter are at final stage for the case to be committed to the High Court for trial.
