February, synonymous with Valentine’s Day also presents a chance for individuals alike to reflect and take their relationships to a higher level.

Boago Ramogapi, aka BF Rams, is a resident Pastor at Royal Assembly Ministries in Gaborone, explains that as a Church minister, he found it befitting to not only recognise Valentine’s Day, but also to hold seminars where they teach couples about the secrets to building strong lasting relationships whose cornerstones is based on the word of God and mutual respect between partners.

This year’s seminar, simply dubbed The Love Train, was held from February 16 to 18 under the theme “Building strong relationships”.

When explaining this novel concept, coach Rams said The Love Train was started in 2013 and its main purpose was to teach people about true love that knows no bounds and counts no past wrongs. He further stated that the love seminar tackled core issues such as what is true love, who really taught us about love, personal experiences about love and most importantly the tricky question most people tend to ignore; how to know if you are truly in love. This question when well understood will be catalytic in helping individuals to choose their rightful soul mate who will take them on a true journey of love and bliss.

The Love Train seminar sought to empower people who are in relationships and willing to commit for the long run with basics of how to truly be a phenomenal lover and partner who will be ready and able to weather the storms relationships.

He explained that the three-day program touched on issues relating to singles, those in relationships, and the married. “The real work is not the three days of the training but after the love train, because that is when we can meet privately with the individuals and advise them on issues they may have,” he said.

He said love is a personal choice of who you want to spend your time, energy, resources and life with. “It is more than a feeling you have, because along the way you can have feelings for different people,” he noted.

He explained that every relationship needs a mentor who helps you appreciate other people, what could be in them that you may not naturally see and beyond that help you to see yourself, analyse yourself and ask yourself who am I and what you want. He added that in relationships, challenges are always there and sometimes people who can be better together can break-up simply because they think their challenges are bigger than them.

Even though a “love mentor” might be seen as a third party into a relationship, coach Rams explained that in a world of chaos and difficulties, most especially in relationships, couples need a mentor whom they could always draw strength from when things seem to go rocky.

He concluded by saying many people get into relationships with the takers’ mentality, which leads to a lack of fulfillment and a constant feeling of “being used”.

He said such misplaced expectation often leads people to engage in toxic relationships without even realising it.

“I want to see people happy in their love lives and see the single people fulfilled in their single lives, hence The Love Train is here to charge people into action regarding how they can successfully achieve that,” he concluded.
