Moloi has no regrets over leaving Chiefs

Some Chiefs fans were against the club’s decision to part ways with one of its most loyal sons, who played for 10 seasons, winning four league titles with the Kgatleng side.
The achievement made him the club’s most decorated captain, but the management did not see any new role for Moloi in the new season. Moloi however, has no regrets over leaving Chiefs. “I have no regrets. I did everything for the club as a player, and went on to assist as a coach. It is one of those things that have happened, it was bound to happen at some stage. Some may not have expected it, but it has happened,” Moloi said.
He however, does not rule out a future role at Chiefs, “if that opportunity arises”.
“But if it doesn’t happen, it is also fine,” Moloi said.Gunners have already found a useful role for Moloi, who joins as Enos Mmesi’s assistant. “I am happy to have joined Gunners. Just like Chiefs, they are a big team and I hope to win things with them,” Moloi said. Although just 36 years-old, Moloi has already garnered enough experience as a reliable number two after deputising Bongani Mafu and then Innocent Morapedi over two seasons. “I spoke to the chairperson, and they want the team to do better than last season. I can’t say where we will finish.”
He said he wants to enjoy his stay at one of the country’s best supported sides.
“At the same time, I want to bring positive results. It is a big team and they deserve good things,” he said. Gunners fans have been long suffering and have had to endure several barren seasons while their fierce rivals, particularly Township Rollers and Chiefs, feasted at the top table. Gunners had a poor season, failing to make the top eight as they could only finish ninth, putting added weight on Moloi, and new caretaker coach, Mmesi.
Moloi is happy that clubs are giving young coaches an opportunity.
“It is good to see former players being given the chance to sit on the bench. In the long run, they will take over, which is good for the future.”
