BFA clears all teams for new season

Botswana Premier League (BPL) chief executive officer, Thabo ‘Styles’ Ntshinogang said the Botswana Football Association (BFA) which is the licensing authority, had cleared all clubs.
“We have been given clearance for all 16 teams, by the BFA as the licensor. BFA should have further details regarding licensing,” Ntshinogang said.
Clubs are expected to meet certain requirements, including having contracts with their players, offices, and submitting audited financial statements.
Regarding the Btv broadcast deal, which has entered a cashless two-year phase, Ntshinogang said they are in discussions to find a solution, as the funds from the deal were crucial, particularly in the payment of referees.
He said they expect to complete discussions with Btv before the end of the month.
Ntshinogang said outstanding referees’ payments were expected to go out last night, while the award winners from last season were also expected to be released before the end of business yesterday.
On the venues, Ntshinogang said UB Stadium is unavailable for at least two weeks, while the Molepolole Sports Complex has water problems.
“There is a challenge in Molepolole regarding the unavailability of water, but we have plan B, as some games will be played there.”
