The lineup for the event includes amongst others Lejwe La Motheo Gospel Choir from South Africa (SA), Batlang Morena Gospel Choir (Francistown), Letloa La Baitshephi Gospel Choir (Francistown), and Babiditsweng Ke Lentswe Gospel Choir (Gaborone).

Mashumba Mashumba, who is a sole proprietor under Lighthouse Theatre Promotion, recently told the media that their aim is to provide their clients and customers with smooth and unforgettable experiences at their events.

He also said that they care deeply about the events they create and the people who come to them. Mashumba added that their concern is for everyone to have an amazing time and fun. “In March 2016, our organisation took a deliberate decision to start promoting Clap n Tap gospel music genre in Botswana. At the time; Clap n Tap Gospel music was not so much known by the larger community of Botswana,” Mashumba said.

He said that in September 2016, they organised a very successful concert at Botho University and an award-winning Clap n Tap gospel choir from South Africa called Lejwe La Motheo Gospel Choir was invited.

Mashumba said some of the local choirs were also invited like Ditsala Moreneng Gospel Choir, Maatla Gospel Choir and St John Metsimotlhabe Church Choir. Mashumba stated that their aim is not so much to make profits as to create awareness and help grow the clap and tap music genre.

They had another concert in April 2017, followed by another one in September 2017 and the last one for the year 2017 was held in December 2017. This year they held one in April 2018.

They have so far hosted Clap n Tap gospel choirs from South Africa like Lejwe La Motheo Gospel Choir, Barorisi Ba Morena Gospel Choir, Vusi and The Mighty Singers Gospel Choir, Isaac and The Mighty Messengers Gospel Choir, Redemption Gospel Choir, Hophethehile Gospel Choir and Motheo Wa Immanuel Church Choir.

He said that they are doing this Clap n Tap festival to fight against drug abuse that has also affected performing artists, and further fight alcohol abuse, especially among the youth.

“We need support from everyone and the government. I want to thank Dr Samuel Bokani Kebaatlhotse of Nice Touch Investments for sponsoring us,” he said.

Lighthouse Theatre Promotions produces and organises large and small-scale events ranging from music festivals to club festivals and corporate campaigns. Mashumba said that they are passionate and have an experienced team of professionals dedicated to creating the best event production in line with their client’s vision and brand concept.
