Kokorwe releases African Democrat

 

In an interview with Billy Kokorwe at the FW De Klerk foundation, the charismatic leader who together with Nelson Mandela won the Nobel Peace Prize attributed Botswana's economic success story to Masire's pragmatic leadership.

 The no-holds-barred and frank interview reveals the witty, dynamic, brave, skillful negotiator in Sir Ketumile Masire from an international perspective, taking the viewer into a world to which few have had access and most could hardly imagine.

Former President Festus Mogae not only pays tribute to Sir Ketumile Masire and his legacy to Botswana, but also reveals his personal knowledge of Masire's character including his close relationship with Sir Seretse Khama, his love for farming and how he had to make some sacrifices for the nation.  Mogae gives a compelling insight into the life of the iconic President giving him credit especially for the economic development of Botswana.  The former President and Sir Ketumile's permanent secretary analyses his performance from pre-independence era to his exemplary retirement and contribution to peace in Africa.

The fast-paced 90-minute thriller of a film, which is currently at post-production stage is primarily led by Sir Ketumile himself with other interviews including, Baroness Chalker, Vice President Mompati Merafhe, former minister Baledzi Gaolathe, former minister and speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Balopi, former opposition MP Michael Dingake, Lady Masire and Mmasekgoa Masire-Mwambwa.

Interviews reveal the extraordinary journey of man who refused to be ordinary. The captivating biography is a definitive expose on Sir Ketumile's contribution to the development of Botswana.

Using rare footage, it is replete with the adventure, challenges, triumphs and resolve of a truly historic life, it will be released in June 2010.
