Some irregularities with respect to some purchase orders were discovered. The purchase orders are alleged to have had signatures of some executive committee members and upon being questioned the members denied knowledge of the orders.

Matibini told Mmegi Sport this week that his suspension was nothing but a trap. He said some people wanted to mop the floor with his head because he did not want to be part of corrupt practices.  He accused the committee of being rotten.

“I have learnt that those people that I had forged their signatures have admitted to have signed but not knowing what they were signing for.  How do you sign for something that you do not know,” he said.

Matibini suggested that people who are involved in the matter, Olebogeng Oitebetse and Mompati Ngwako should also be suspended.

He said the police have not taken his statement. Matibini said he brought the two quotations in question under instruction from the executive.

“It seems the matter has now taken a new twist. I am not sure how long this would take. I have not been receiving my salary for the past two months. I have roped in my lawyers to assist me in this matter,” he said.

He said BAA is always struggling with funds because of the debts they always create. He said this is the reason why athletes always complain about their allowances.

“Initially, I was warned by the treasurer, Brian Mosweu that he has been instructed by the president, Moses Bantsi to dismiss me. The main reason being that I knew their secrets. He did not mention those secrets. Mosweu failed to write me a dismissal letter because he knew that was unconstitutional,” he said.

But Bantsi denied ever saying Matibini should be fired.

Matibini said in one instance, he was ordered to organise accommodation for the national team that was due for Angola last year. He said there was a certain lodge in Tlokweng which was preferred to accommodate the team.

“Quotations are always inflated at BAA from service providers so that some people can benefit financially,” Matibini said.

Contacted for comment, BAA secretary general, Legojane Kebaitse said he could not comment on the matter. He said the matter was still under investigation by the police.

Meanwhile, newly appointed BAA public relations officer, Charles Keikotlhae said the Disciplinary Committee (DC) was delaying to complete the matter. He said the BAA executive held a meeting last week and the DC was advised to speed up the process.
