The constituencies have been allocated to the BNF and the BMD under the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) new unity deal, but the two parties are yet to meet to decide on how to share them. Under the unity agreement, the BNF will contest 22 constituencies and the BMD 14.

“We are yet to meet and decide on the party that will manage the constituencies,” BMD secretary general, Gilbert Mangole said yesterday. “I cannot predict if each party will get one constituency or not. It is up to the parties to decide on what is the best for them.

“I don’t think it will take long for parties to make a decision.”

He said the party’s national executive committee (NEC) had not discussed the matter.

“The agenda for our meeting was the coming party congresses.

Remember our party (the UDC) is going for their congresses this year and we want to see these congresses being successful. The NEC has asked the youth league to give them dates that will be suitable for their congress and the place where they wish it to be held.”
