Kelebeng grew up in Motokwe village in the constituency, one of undeveloped areas in the country.

“Our people despite all the hardships are people of high spirits. I never realised that our people were wallowing in abject poverty; our parents were able to insulate us from that reality. “It was only in the latter years of my primary school, after having visited relatives in Gaborone that I realised that life could be so much better for my people than it was.

“It has been 20 years since my discovery and life has not improved for many of the people in the Takatokwane area,” Kelebeng said.

The youful politician says the area continues to be neglected, and according to the recent survey; it is one of the poorest areas in the country.

“This is despite the fact that the area has immense economic potential that has been allowed to go untapped by those in the echelons of power.”

Kelebeng said people of Takatokwane area are farmers of immense skill, hunters, poets, athletes and a myriad of other God-given talents.

He said at AP they believe that government should create an environment where people are able to earn a living from their talents.

He said if elected, his assignment in Parliament would be to bring pertinent issues and challenges facing Takatokwane to fore.

“I will demand that challenges being faced by our farmers be resolved in the soonest possible time, these are for both large scale and small scale farmers.

“Will ask the government to formulate effective programmes in all schools that unearth and enhance the natural talent of the young people of Takatokwane,” he said.

He said he would work together with community leaders such as dikgosi, Village Development Community, youth groups, church leaders and community trusts in order to formulate strategies that will be beneficial to the area.

Other parties are yet to hold primary elections to choose their candidates. The Botswana Democratic Party has won elections in the area several times.
