Khama, who is also the Minister of Environment, Conservation, Natural Resources and Tourism, wants Dijeng barred from contesting in the party's August 25primaries for allegedly contravening rules and regulations in relation to elections.

Earlier today through his attorney, Clement Mazhinye, Khama contended that the matter should be dealt with urgently as he and his voters were likely to suffer prejudice together, should Dijeng be allowed to stand.

Botswana Democratic Party attorney, Basimane Bogopa in reply said the central committee was mandated with the approval of candidates and had the right to vet.

He argued that the central committee had accordingly used its discretion to vet and approve Dijeng fairly.

Dijeng was represented by attorney Unoda Mack.
