Magistrate Gaseitsewe Tonoki convicted Kgowe on two counts of unlawful possession of drugs.  The court revealed that on the first count, Kgowe is facing unlawful possession of cannabis stating that on or about May 21, 2016 in Block 3, Gaborone.  Him being a person not authorised, licenced or exempted in any manner to possess habit-forming drugs, unlawfully had in his possession cannabis weighing 11.3 grammes.

On count two he is facing an offence of unlawful possession of methcathinone.  Being a person not authorised, licenced or exempted in any manner to possess habit-forming drugs, Kgowe unlawfully had in his possession methcathinone, another habit-forming drug, weighing 4.3038 grammes.

Passing judgment, Tonoki said on  May 21, 2016 after receiving a report that Kgowe was dealing drugs one sub-inspector Bagwasi went to search his house and found in his possession drugs that were brought before the court as exhibits.

Tonoki said in his defence Kgowe claimed that the drugs belonged to one Thabo, but during the search police found drugs all over his house.

“You claimed one Thabo came to you a day prior to your arrest and asked you to keep his parcels (which were two envelopes) and promised to take the following day, but never came back.  During trial you did not deny possession nor the knowledge of the drugs but just said one Thabo gave you the parcels and you failed to bring him before court,” Tonoki said when he found him guilty as charged on both counts.
