Boitumelo Foundation targets P1million from concert

It will be in its second year and aimed at raising awareness to causes and beneficiaries who work daily to help make Botswana a better place for its citizens.
Among the artists who will perform at the concert is South African soul sensation, Samthing Soweto, well known for his hit, Akanamali. Revellers will also get to see another South African vocalist and poet, Busisiwa while soul sensation Mpho Sebina will be among the local artists at the 12-hour show.
The Boitumelo Foundation is a non-profit organisation that aims to lend a hand in supporting deserving community efforts in Botswana, some of which is the Masiela Trust.
Last weekend the foundation visited the Masiela Trust and Kgaphamadi settlement in Gaborone North. A press release from the Boitumelo Foundation says Masiela Trust then appealed to other organisations such as Tebelopele to set up testing and counselling points in outlying settlements.
“HIV/AIDS prevalence in outlying settlements is quite high, and usually there is lack of access to testing and counselling services. The need was much bigger than they thought, as Tebelopele had to go back into town for more supplies.
The Ministry of National Immigration and Gender Affairs, was also at hand to register members of the community, as most of them are unregistered citizens and don't have ID cards/Omang and therefore cannot access government services,' the statements says.
