It proved to be former coach, Peter Butler’s last game in charge as he quit shortly after slating the Botswana Football Association (BFA) for shoddy preparations.

Bright is expected to name a 30-member squad, which will have a number of South African based players.  Thatayaone Kgosimore, Kabelo Seakanyeng, Onkabetse Makgantai and Lesenya Ramoraka all joined Mpho Kgaswane, Mogakolodi Ngele, Kabelo Dambe and Thabang Sesinyi in South Africa and are all expected to make Bright’s squad. Sesinyi has however, dropped to the second tier after Platinum Stars was relegated and then sold.

The club was bought by a consortium of businesspersons and has since relocated to Cape Town and is renamed Cape Umoya United.

Since taking over the Zebras last year, Bright has enjoyed a stellar run in the COSAFA Cup, reaching the quarterfinals, after topping a group that had Malawi, Angola and Seychelles.

He beat their next opponents, Angola, 2-1 and that result should give the Zebras the psychological advantage.

BFA public relations officer, Tumo Mpatane revealed that he and preparatory had just returned from a fact-finding mission in Luanda.

“We have started the preparations by travelling to Luanda to check on the facilities. I was with the team’s doctor. The weather is humid, so it is important that the doctor can advise accordingly,” Mpatane said.

The team will go into camp on Sunday, with the South African based players expected to join later.

Players will be given a break to join their sides as the BTC Premiership season is now in full swing.

The Zebras’ group has Burkina Faso, Angola and Mauritania with the top team assured of qualification, while runners-up can go through as the best placed second team. Cameroon hosts an expanded tournament, which will have 24teams, up from 16.
