On Friday they lost 5-0 to Mochudi Centre Chiefs, meaning they have conceded 15 goals and scored just twice in five matches.

Majombolo’s troubles can be traced to the recent closure of the BCL Mine, which robbed them of a sponsor and subscription from the mine’s members.

Nico have the weakest defence after conceding 32 goals in 16 games and scoring 15 times. But coach, Dean Mwinde said they will not throw in the towel yet. He said their troubles began with the loss of a high number of experienced players, but is hopeful their new look team will gel in time to escape the axe.

“We have registered a good number of players with little experience in the Premiership and we are building a team that can play together and these (losses) were inevitable. Whoever wants to underrate us can do so but we will keep going,” he said.

“There are 14 games to go and I don’t think we are that bad.  We are only inexperienced, but I believe with my experience we will come to the party and in time, we can’t run away, the fixtures are already there and we will jump into the ring and fight to win not to lose.  I am confident we will survive.”

Club manager, Booster Moalosi who reiterated the coach’s conviction, said it is a positive to fight with players who appreciate the club’s current situation. “We had proven players with good experience and it was difficult to sustain them under our current financial predicament hence we let them leave.

“We have acquired young players who came in with a clear understanding of our situation and they want to prove themselves and help the team survive. These are not bad players. It’s only that they need a little time to understand each other and we will be underway soon.

We are not pressing panic buttons just yet,” he said.
