Chiefs have endured a miserable start to the campaign and are battling in the bottom half of the log, but have breathed fresh impetus after good business in January.

The arrival of prolific goal getters, Jerome ‘JJ’ Ramatlhakwanaa and Tendai Nyamadzawo, has answered coach, Bongani Mafu’s cry for proven strikers.

The two have not wasted time as they have plunged eight goals between themselves in three matches, which has seen the Kgatleng giants remain unbeaten in 2017.

While the two have expectedly covered themselves in glory, it is Namibian, Absalom Limbondi who has given Chiefs fans reason to believe after a tough start to the season.

Limbondi, although still settling in at Chiefs, was the talk of the town long after Nico United had been demolished 5-0 on Friday night.

“We have been craving for an experienced left link player who can deliver quality crosses. Absalom ‘Touches’ Limbondi has the look to give us that option. Hopefully, he will settle and link well with ‘JJ’ and Nyama (Nyamadzawo),” Chiefs coach, Mafu said yesterday.

When quizzed if he considers his strike force the best in the country, Mafu said: “We are working on a lasting combination in the whole team.  This will take time, but we are happy with the personnel available this time around”.

There is still young Thatoyaone Ramatlapeng to fall back on if the promising trident fails to fire, but for the first time this season, Chiefs carry sufficient gravitas to inject lethal fear into any opposition.

Chiefs still have a lot of ground to make after a horrendous start shoved them to 12th before they started picking the pieces. After the Nico win, the former champions moved to ninth with 20 points from 15 games.

Meanwhile, Jwaneng Galaxy are the new leaders of the BTC Premiership after a 4-0 demolition of bottom side, Mahalapye United Hotspurs on Saturday. Mike Sithole’s side took full advantage of former leaders, Rollers CAF club competition engagement, to pull one point clear on 31 points.
