F/town Academic Hospital To Create 500 Jobs

The construction of the state of the art teaching hospital will take 15 months. The teaching hospital would attract patients as well as students from across boarders especially the Southern African Development Committee (SADC) region.

The spokesperson of Indus Healthcare Botswana Gulwinder Singh said that the Francistown Academic Teaching Hospital is expected to create more than 500 direct and indirect jobs during and after the construction phase of the facility.

He added that the project would cost P80 million. “A project of this magnitude is expected to stimulate the local economy of the northern part of Botswana,” he highlighted.

Singh indicated that as a service provider located along the logistics routes to the regional countries they expect the hospital to attract multitudes of clients and students.

Indus Proprietary Limited Botswana, has been working with the country’s Ministry of Health and Wellness (MHW) for the past five years.

The organisation has been working with MHW by providing specialist clinical services management and monitoring at nine local hospitals.

The health facilities include Sekgoma Memorial Hospital, Scottish Livingstone Hospital, Princess Marina Hospital, Mahalapye Hospital, Nyangabwe Referral Hospital to only mention but a few.

Giving the background of the Indus Healthcare Singh said that the inception of Indus Healthcare India was in 1988 through the establishment of Jiwan Hospital in Jalalabad (W), Punjab, India.

He disclosed that Jiwan was a rural hospital catering to the poor in an area along the Indian-Pakistan border.

“Indus opened an office in South Africa in 2008 to cater for the medical tourism traffic to India.

We commenced services in Botswana at the invitation of Government of Botswana in 2011 and our services has been growing exceptionally,” he said.

Singh revealed that the rationale of their existence and growth over the last twenty-five years has been made possible by effective management hospital operations and specialist clinical services with prime focus on inclusive and accessible quality clinical outcomes in patient care.

Other Indus Healthcare Group companies in Africa are located in Namibia, Lesotho and Kenya.
