Abusive husband slapped with seven years' imprisonment

Nkiwane, who made his wife’s life a misery by brutally assaulting and injuring her in violent attacks, was facing an offence of grievous bodily harm.  He assaulted his wife, Catherine Mutizwa back in March 2, 2015 at Ghaghoo mine, Lephephe staging camp.

Sentencing Nkiwane, Molepolole magistrate Michael Itumeleng disclosed that Nkiwane unlawfully caused harm to his wife by fisting her on the head and kicking her with a boot on the chin and sustained a laceration on the lower lip and fracture on the lower gum. 

Nkiwane also has four counts of obtaining by false pretences and one count of giving false information to a person employed in the public service pending before Extension II Magistrate’s Court. 

He is alleged to have unlawfully obtained a Botswana driver’s licence, work and resident permits under the pretext that he is the real Graduate Mutizwa and giving false information back in July 2009, February 2011, April 2011, October 2014 respectively.
