SA's Master KG's track raises conflict between Charma Gal, Figos

The 22-year-old from Calais village in Tzaneen took the local music industry by storm and his songs are very popular in Botswana. In an effort to tap more into the local market Master KG allegedly featured both artists and later accused Figos of stealing the song.

He posted on his Facebook page denying the collaboration between him and Figos but acknowledged the one he had with the Sekuta singer.

“This is rubbish! Whoever is using my name for rubbish things I don’t have a song with ‘Figos’. Please stop using my name about rubbish thing..Plz respect me my only song is (MasterKG ft Charma Gal) How can you mix a song that don’t have a week..Ke go tella batho fela (sic),” read the post. The Skeleton Move hitmaker then deleted the post on his Facebook wall and continued to promote the version that features Charma Gal.

In an interview with Showbiz, Master KG said he would

never do collaboration with Figos because doesn’t help him

in anyway. He said he had sent the song to Figos two

weeks back for the latter to put his vocals. “Figos sent it

back but I didn’t like his vocals. Since I was already

planning to do a song with Charma Gal I sent her the same

song to add her part and I liked it,” he explained. Master

KG said he went ahead and released his song with Charma

Gal last Friday. He said in order to make up for this he told

Figos that he will now send a different song for the latter to

try his vocals on. “Then his boys forcefully released the

part I didn’t like without my consent after realizing that our

song with Charma Gal was doing well. Master KG said its

all lies because he had never approached Figos. “He lied

about everything. I posted on Facebook that all they did is

rubbish because I never approved their part to begin with. I

later deleted the post and decided not to entertain such,” he

emphasized.

For her part, Charma Gal said the song that was released last Friday was recorded in South Africa but she only added her part in Botswana at Wise Records in Block 7. “Master KG told me that he sent Figos the song for listening but Figos took it to Zolasko for edits,” she said. Charma Gal revealed that Master KG even denied featuring Figos in his song. “I told him not to panic because we will handle this situation.”

Figos, who is currently signed under Vee Mampeezy’s Black Money Makers told Mmegi that Master KG is the one who approached him after the Vee VS Master KG show in Trekkers a few months back.

“He got my number from both my manager and Vee so we started talking about future collaborations. He even admitted that he is a fan of my work,” he said.

Figos added that last month Master KG sent him a song called Ntshalele Le Bana and asked him to put vocals on it. “I gladly did work on it with Naisi Boy and Zolasko at their studio and Master KG loved the end product.”

Figos said he was surprised when the Situation hitmaker told him that the song would be released the next day.

“We then agreed that the song should be released after a few days,” he said. Figos said he was happy to learn that Master KG has done another song with another local artist, Charma Gal. “I only learnt later that it was the same song and I contacted Master KG again, who convinced me that everything will work out since the intention was to release two versions of Ntshalele Le Bana,” he said.

Figos said he realised then that Master KG played him, therefore, he decided to keep silent and protect both his brand and Master KG’s.

“He promised to release our version later, but he never did so, my producer Zolasko suggested that we push our song independently. Unfortunately Zolasko sent the song cover to the wrong contacts and that is how the whole thing blew up and the next thing I was accused of stealing the song,” he explained.

Figos said Master KG only posted such to do damage control as a result of pressure.

“He has deleted those posts, but now it’s my name that has been tarnished. For starters I have never approached him for a collabo, he is the one who came to me,” he said.
