Wheels Off As BDF XI Down Systems

Systems started the better team but the army side settled down midway through the first stanza.

It was a bad day for Systems’ Thulani Gumede as he missed a glaring opportunity failing to connect Molebeledi Gabofiwe’s set piece when unmarked in the 33rd minute. Systems played their game on the wings through high balls which their wingers, Tumelo Mazebedi and Gabofiwe failed to control. Pako Moloi missed a one-on-one opportunity after he rounded Systems’ keeper, Joseph Gojamang in the 39th minute.

After the break, Matebele began to dictate the flow scoring the opener soon after restart. Bophelo Macheng chipped the ball into his own net when he tried to clear in the 46th minute.

Kumbulani Madziba got the second in the 53rd minute, passing the ball into the net after a scramble in the box. Right at the death, Systems conceded again, with Mazebedi sending the ball into his own net in an attempt to clear.

BDF XI coach, Nelson Setshwane said he was impressed that finally his strikers were in good form.

“I am satisfied with the way we performed today. As you know, we had a serious challenge with the strike force. There were no goals. Today, I am generally happy that my team is taking shape upfront,” he said. His counterpart, Thaloba Nthaga said there was more work to be done on his side. “Well done BDF XI, they played well. We lost the game due to a lot of errors. We have to work on those few mistakes because we did not play well today,” he said.
