Gunners wait for Zongo's work permit

Babitseng said Zongo had been registered within the off season transfer window, which closed on August 17, but there was further paper work to be processed before the move could be finalised.
“All other paper work has been processed. We are waiting for his work permit and then, he will start playing. He has signed a season long contract, with an option to renew,” Babitseng said. “He was eligible to register as a free agent, but we did not take that route, as he came here before the transfer window closed.”
He said the former Supersport United player had already started training with the side, while waiting for his permits.
Meanwhile, Babitseng denied claims that Zongo will earn P30,000 per month. He said recent media reports had the potential to upset other players. “If you look at a player like Olaki, he is due to undergo surgery and the club has been saying it doesn’t have money. He will then ask himself, where the money is coming from all of a sudden. Olaki is our priority, in fact all the players’ welfare is important to us. We have to look after them. If we pay one, we pay all, and if none is paid, it means everyone is not paid,” said Babitseng, who took over as chairperson at the beginning of the new season.
Olaki was injured last season, and is due to undergo surgery, which will cost around P30,000.
Babitseng said they have an option to have a surgery done in Botswana, or fly the Ugandan home for the procedure. “It will cost more or less the same, here or back in his country. I will prefer that he does it in Uganda, so that he is closer to his family as he recuperates,” Babitseng said.
His committee inherited a club that is P1.8million in the red and is battling to clear the debts.
Former coach, Pio Paul is owed nearly P100, 000 and Babitseng said they are trying to settle the debt.
He has promised to wipe out the P1.8million debt within the first three months of office as the Peleng giants seek to reclaim their place in the upper echelons of local football.
