Mmanoko Three-Car Collision Leaves 4 Badly Injured

The cause of the accident is not yet known as the police investigations into the matter are ongoing. “The three cars collision involved seven people with four of being currently hospitalised and fighting for their lives at Bokamoso Private Hospital and Princess Marina Hospital,” said divisional traffic officer south, assistant commissioner Omphemetse Mashiqa.

“There are no fatalities that has been reported yet, but the extent of the injuries the victims sustained is very bad.”  Mashiqa said two BMW cars each had one person on board, being the drivers whilst the Ipsum had five people on board, the driver and four passengers. Luckily police arrived well in time and managed to cut one of the cars in order to rescue people who were stuck inside. “Amongst the seven; four people have been badly injured being two drivers and two passengers. Investigations into the incident are still at initial stage and this is what I can share with you at the moment,” said Mashiqa.

He stated that they suspect some of the people might have been returning to Gaborone from the Dithubaruba cultural festival in Molepolole.

Two months ago, concerned with escalating road deaths involving the youth the police introduced Target 20 000 campaign targeting the youth identified as the most affected individuals when roads accidents are concerned. The campaign will run until December 31, 2018 to sensetise them on issues of safer roads with efforts to curb the escalating road deaths.
