Another twist in nightclub murder case

The police had initially charged Batshani Montsho, Nicholas Itshekeleng, Gobusamang Mothibi, Tshepo Mokalare, Keolopile Moshotle, Ditiro Reboeleng, Oabile Dibobo, Tshepo Ntusa and Tshiamo Morolong with murder and robbery. However, the prosecution yesterday told the court of another twist in the matter. It was stated that Itshekeleng, Mothibi, Mokalare and Moshotle were not involved in either of the robbery and murder offences.
“There has been new development in the case. I had a discussion with the investigating officer and it emerged that the second, third, fourth and sixth accused were not involved in the robbery case. We are dropping all the charges against them,” she said.
The prosecutor further said Montsho faced robbery charges. She said that a new charge sheet of murder and robbery will be read to the remaining accused in the next court appearance. In the previous appearance, the police revealed that investigations into the matter were complete. But this time, the prosecutor told the court that investigations revealed that Reboeleng, Moshotle, Ntusa and Morolong are the once responsible for the murder of Bogatsu while the rest will only be charged with robbery.
“We intend to make changes to the charge sheet in the next court session,” she said then.
All the accused are on bail except Montsho and Dibobo. The bail conditions of Ntusa and Morolong (eighth and ninth accused) were varied. The court granted their plea to report once a week at Masunga and Tonota police stations respectively. The case continues on February 13, 2017.
