Autlwetse will battle it out for the BDP NYEC top position against Bruce Nkgakile, Simon Mavhange, Vuyo Notta and Fox Segwai over the weekend.

Autlwetse’s team comprises of councillor Kabo Ketshogile (vice chairperson), Collen Mochotlhi (general secretary), Tumisang Masire (deputy secretary), councillor Tuelo Metseyabeng (treaurer), Kabelo Kgwarae Mhuriro (information officer), Sekano Bodio (project and fundraising) and Bazooka Baatweng (political officer).

Additional members include, councillor Ngongorego Khutsafalo, Lorato Morebodi, Maridu Rakhudu, Patience Kaego and councillor Kagiso Mongwaketse.

Autlwetse team slogan is #kenako #partyfirst.

According to the team spokesperson, Molebeledi Lunga, Autlwetse has availed himself for the position of BDP NYEC chairperson and together with his team, which is made of representative from across the country.

Oduetse told Mmegi in an interview that if voted, the team would ensure that the BDP youth wing is independent.

“BDP youth wing must not rely much on the party elders, even though elders should be our advisers. We have a strong team that if given a chance shall recruit more youth into the party because youth wing is a very strong wing that should it be weak, the whole party would be affected,” Oduetse said.

Team Autlwetse spokesperson further said they are concerned that opposition parties are becoming stronger in each by-election, which is a sign that something is not right in the BDP.

He said the youth wing should work extra hard to help the mother body against a seemingly strong opposition.

“Opposition parties are becoming even stronger because of their cooperation, hence if voted into power my team would work hard to take the party to 2019 general elections,” he said.

He said for the past four years the youth committee has shown signs of weakness and the youth do not understand the party initiatives.

Autlwetse stated that he is proud to belong to a generation with a difference and willing and able to see to it that the legacy of its forefathers lives on.

He said the BDP is a party with a rich history of national build and determination.

“Our gratitude goes to our forefathers for they gave us the BDP, a party of visionary men and women more than willing to see a better Botswana, a greater Botswana, a futuristic generation that cherishes its past, acknowledges its differences and seeks to redefine destiny.”
