BDP youth gearing for Tsabong

Held under the theme, ‘Our structures our strength’, the congress that will be opened by President Ian Khama on Friday is expected to come up with ways that would strengthen their youth structures and spur revival in others.
After Mmadinare congress, the BDP motherbody resolved that their youth and women wings should sponsor their activities and have their own accounts.
“Already, we have spent more than P70, 000 for the preparation and other things are not yet complete which means we might spend more. We had to ask for financial assistance from different donors to make the congress successful.
Again, some BDP members in the area helped us with close to six cattle to be slaughtered for the congress,” Boatile said in an interview. He said they had managed to book accommodation for the delegates and their visitors who will be coming from ZANUPF, African National Congress (ANC), and SWAPO, amongst others. Boatile said the primary role of their congress is elections, discussions of their reports from the secretary and treasurer. “The motions and other things that youth will want to adopt are going to be dealt with at their youth council after they had found out that during election congress people only focuses on elections.
However, the youth will have to make few resolutions in order to give their new committee mandate,” he said. One of things that the congress would ask from the party leaders is to give NYEC one of the party plots for them to raise funds with it and to empower it to have a company.
