DJ Izzy crowned king of ViB challenge

Apart from the cash prize, DJ Izzy will also receive a Bulk SMS promotion of his single for three months on all mobile networks, free production of a music video, free photoshoot, mastering of a track and a 10-hour studio recording session.
The challenge, which started September 1, 2016 ended on January 31, 2017. It was done via a public voting system where the public had a list of 20 artists to choose from.
The list included ViB registered artists which included Charma Gal, Lizibo, DJ Oats, Shumba Ratshega, Tshepo Lesole and Amantle Brown.
The idea behind the initiative is to promote artists’ music and to encourage the public to buy local content.
“The artists were selected on merit from airplay, social media presence and ringtone downloads,” a statement from ViB Mobile explained.
DJ Izzy emerged the winner with a total of 1,091 votes.
ViB Mobile, encourages artists to sign up with them in order to make their music digitally accessible.
ViB announced that while DJ Izzy won the CRBT Top 20 Challenge King, Odirile ‘Vee Mampeezy’ remains the highest earning artist in terms of downloads.
ViB Mobile’s ringtones, products and services include Monophonic and Polyphonic Tones, True/MP3 Tones, Full Track Music and Caller Ringback Tunes (CRBT) and are distributed on all the local Mobile Network Operators, namely beMobile, Mascom Wireless and Orange Botswana.
