Investigations ongoing in taxi driver murder case

The Zimbabwean trio of James Ndaba 40, Martin Nkandla, 34, and Sam Ncube, 39, are accused of robbing and killing Kereeng on October 30, 2016 in Mogoditshane.

Broadhurst Magistrate Faith Ngandu further remanded the trio in custody on Monday after state prosecutor Inspector Tsogo Rantopo revealed that investigations in the matter were still ongoing. The prosecutor told the court that they had since seized and taken Ndaba and Ncube’s passports for verification by the Department of Immigration.

“None of them have permits. We have sent passports for accused one and two to immigration for verification and are awaiting the response. As for the third accused, it appears he has no passport. “We are also waiting for the forensic results. We only have the post mortem report,” he said. The accused allegedly attacked and killed Kereeng, robbing him of a Nokia mobile phone valued at P450 before driving off in his silver Corolla Allex car.

Ngandu ordered that the accused be further remanded and appear in court on February 20, 2017.
