Cultural exchange programme on the cards

The cultural exchange project dubbed Malaika’s Tour Exhibition will mainly focus on sensitising locals on the Chinese arts and culture.  Local artists will learn from Chinese painter Xiaozhou Gao who is the main facilitator.  “With this cultural exchange programme we want local artists to get the touch and feeling of the Chinese art. This will also be a platform for both Chinese and local artists to engage and network,” Tiantian Guo the director of Malaika Gemstones said.

She noted that part of Malaika’s Tour Exhibition is their Malaika Jewellery Designs collection and 20 pieces of Gao’s artworks.

“Xiaozhou Gao will facilitate on how she does her work explain in detail the different techniques, she is also looking forward to engaging and working in with local artists.”

Gao mainly focuses on Chinese calligraphy, cursive scripts, landscape, flowers and bird paintings. The exhibition is set to begin at 3:30 pm.  Meanwhile, Gao noted that Malaika Gemstones recently opened offices in the country to honour the fact that the diamonds they use are mined locally.

“We have been operating internationally with different 16 shops around and last year we decided to open shop this side since we get the diamonds here.”
