Of recent, news has been circulating that Davids was alleged to have threatened to shoot and kill Boseja south ward councillor, Gomolemo Gouwe, with a gun. It was alleged that the MP’s whereabouts were unknown with the police looking for him over the charges.

The misunderstanding is said to have started during a kgotla meeting at Mochudi where the duo exchanged harsh words with Davids threatening to shoot him (Gouwe) with a gun. It is reported that the misunderstanding took days and at one point the duo met again somewhere at Rasesa village where Davisd is alleged to have blocked Gouwe’s way with a car something that frightened him.

It was alleged that the incident frightened Gouwe and motivated him to report the matter to the police who later managed to reconcile them. The two are members of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC).

In an interview with Mmegi, Mochudi police station commander, Simon Sitale dismissed the allegations stating that they are not investigating any threat to kill case against Davids. The police boss claimed that the duo only had political misunderstandings and a gun was never mentioned or used as it was alleged.

“We heard those rumors as well and we confronted them but only to learn that they only had a misunderstanding that they managed to resolve without opening a case,” said Sitale.

Meanwhile Sitale raised a concern over the alarming fatal accidents against pedestrians who are hit by the train while crossing the railway line at Morwa village.

He said in a space of four months they have already recorded five incidents in which people lost their lives.

Sitale stated that they are currently investigating another fatal accident that happened last Friday night in which two men lost their lives when the car they were traveling with was hit by a train at Morwa village.

He said the deceased were brothers, aged 36 and 24 years.

He said the deceased’s names are still withheld as they are waiting to notify their next of kin.

He said investigations on the matter are ongoing to establish what could have caused the accident as the driver of the car is still hospitalised at the Deborah Retief Memorial (DRM) Hospital.

“When approaching the crossing line, the train always makes sure to warn and alert people of its approach. This worries us because despite, this people continue to lose their lives at the rail crossing,” said Sitale.

He stated that they have discovered that the majority of the motorists have the tendency of driving while playing loud music in their cars something that results in them failing to hear the train hooter.

“Some motorists and pedestrians like to cross the railway line putting on headphones playing music loudly, hence failing to hear the train hooter when the train approaches the crossing line,” said Setale.

He said they have also discovered that the majority of motorists tend to be impatient when approaching the railway line something that puts their lives at risk.

Sitale pleaded with members of the public to always exercise patience and caution when crossing the railway line.

He also called on motorists to follow and obey traffic lights and to avoid playing loud music when approaching the crossing line at all times to avoid unnecessary accidents that occasionally claim people’s lives.
