Botswana Yali Network receives disability grant

This year the 2016 cohort is privileged to have received a grant that will address issues concerning people living with disabilities in Botswana specifically seeking to increase inclusion and prevent abuse against people living with disabilities in rural Botswana.

It is on this basis that we extend an invitation to the media for a press conference to be held on Tuesday 7th of February at the University of Botswana, Library Seminar Room (LD25) from 9am to 11am.

The press conference will be held to launch and brief the media about the project.  The anticipated outcomes of this project are to ensure that rural communities are more informed about people living with disabilities while ensuring that people living with disabilities are knowledgeable of their rights and more empowered to speak out against abuse and have access to opportunities and services.

The BW YALI Network is a registered society of a group of young Batswana who are alumni of the Mandela Washington Fellowship of Young African Leaders a flagship program of President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) that empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking.
