The Cattle Drive play will be showcased three times on February 13, 15 and 16, 2017 at Stanbic Bank Piazza. The Stanbic Bank Piazza as a way of promoting theatre locally is hosting the ensemble.

“I am passionate when it comes to arts and culture.  This is why we have decided to host the Rosebank Theatre next week. After their show we will host more theatre productions. We are known for just hosting musical events,” Luc Vandecasteele, Stanbic Bank Piazza managing director said.

He noted that locally theatre is not given much platform as it is only promoted by the likes of Maitisong Festival once a year.

“We want to promote theatre, commercialise and make it well known to people. We are starting off with a South African production because it is difficult to find productions locally. For the rest of the year The Rosebank Theatre will showcase five productions here,” Vandecasteele said.

He noted that Stanbic Bank Piazza will host local production Moratiwa the musical some time this year.

The play, Cattle Drive is a Botswana inspired story. The story line talks of how two Batswana cowboys moved cattle from Gantsi to Lobatse before the independence era.  Along the story issues such as politics, education and alcohol abuse come up. Part of the cast is a Motswana actor, Motheo Madisa who is based in Cape Town.

Renowned theatre director, actor and producer, Nicholas Ellenbogen opened the Rosebank Theatre in July 2013 with the support of acclaimed writer, Alexander McCall Smith.
