The Ghanaian striker had taken his matter to FIFA demanding P400,000 from GU after the club terminated his contract. FIFA ordered GU to pay the player and were recently docked three points after failing to pay within the stipulated time.

However, they managed to pay the full amount on Friday, giving a sigh of relief to Moyagoleele supporters who were expecting the worst after point deductions.

Speaking to The Monitor Sport yesterday, Kalabeng said the crisis has definitely tainted the club’s image.

He said at the moment it is difficult to try and source sponsorship because of the week-in-week-out bad publicity in the media.

“It is very difficult because even if we try and look for sponsors, people turn us down saying we are in the news for the wrong reasons.

“We are working very hard to try and restore the good image of this club,” he said.  He confirmed the club has managed to settle Appiah’s debt. The club will hold a special general meeting this weekend where a new executive committee will be ushered in. Boitumelo Nsunge who is the current interim chairperson has expressed his desire to continue his role.

He took over after the resignation of Rapula Okaile early this year.

He will fight for the position with former Botswana Football Association (BFA) chief executive officer (CEO), Judge Mookodi while Donald Seleke, Kgomotso Monageng and Tamocha Lenyeletse battle for the position of secretary. Alexander Rakhane and Onyana Mafojane have expressed their interest in serving as treasurer.
