Rollers Claim City Bragging Rights

Rollers made a surprise inclusion of full back, Edwin Olerile who made a switch from GU during the week, while Rodolfo Zapata tested his new acquisitions in the second half. It took 14 minutes for a real chance at goal after the first 10 minutes could not produce a spark. Tumisang Orebonye tried from outside the box with a hard hit low drive, but Mwampule Masule was up to the task.

Rollers broke the deadlock in the 21st minute through Mosha Gaolaolwe. The defender headed home Edwin Molasi’s free kick to give Popa the lead. Six minutes later Lemponye Tshireletso played a one two pass with Terrence Mandaza, but the former’s shot was well collected by Goitseone Phoko. Rollers enjoyed the lion’s share of ball possession as they went into break with the one goal lead.

At the start of the second half, Zapata introduced new boys, Jeffrey Sekapite and Akakulubelwa Mwaichiaba in place of Jackson Lesole and Thato Ogopotse. Five minutes into the second half, Sekapite missed a chance to get a debut goal as his header sailed over the bar. Ten minutes later, Obonye Maome curled a freekick but Masule easily collected. In the 79th minute, substitute Joel Mogorosi broke away with pace, laid to Kekaetswe Moloi who flicked to Segolame Boy, whose shot missed the goal by a whisker. Boy redeemed himself with only five minutes to time with a brilliant goal. The attacking midfielder got at the end result of throw-in which Moloi failed to control, and the ball fell in to Boy’s path, who hit the roof of the net. “We had couple of chances in the second half. This is football, 2-0 would sound too bad but we played good football. GU is not a simple team, but the biggest club in the country,” the ever colourful Zapata said after the match. His counterpart, Mogomotsi Mpote lauded his players for a job well done. “We dominated the first half but in the second half they had the control of the game. They came at us but I told my players to squeeze them tactically. That’s how we won the game,” he said.
