The game only picked momentum after 20 minutes with Lovers on the attack. Chipunza Tinashe was clear through but was ruled offside in the 25th minute.

Chiefs retaliated but Charles Mutero’s effort from a free kick went over in the 29th minute.

Three minutes later, Lovers broke the deadlock through former Jwaneng Galaxy striker, Fanyana Lungisani. Lovers continued on the ascendancy until the break.

After the interval, Lovers were forced into a substitution with injured Tumo Keiketlile replaced by Tamapo Onthusitse.

In a bid to even matters, Chiefs made their own changes, throwing in Dirang Moloi for Thatayaone Ramatlapeng in the 50th minute.

The move almost paid dividends in the 59th minute but Nyamadzawo’s effort was well saved by goalkeeper, Garetsosane Onkemetse who had a good game. Lovers did not lie down, instead, continued to search for an elusive second.

But it was the Kgatleng giants who drew level when Nyamadzawo took advantage of poor defending to rescue a point for his side.

Lovers coach, Onthusitse Kootswele said they did not deserve a draw, but a win.

“We didn’t deserve a draw from this match. We are there technically but still struggling with the boys’ mindset and admiration of our opponents in big names. Every time, we try to encourage them to do away with inferiority complex.

We deserved three points from the match, and the disturbing part of it is that the same player who always scores against us (Nyamadzawo) scored again today. We had warned the players about him during team talk that he is deadly. Anyway we will have to battle,” he said.

Chiefs mentor, Bongani Mafu said his team was complacent in the first half. “We let them steal a goal and that cost us three points but it is better because we are away.

Under normal circumstances, an away point is not bad but from where we stand we really needed three points, hence we shall continue fighting,” he said.
