Attention shifts to the bottom

Mathematically, at least nine teams are still facing relegation, but Motlakase, TAFIC, Jwaneng Comets, Killer Giants and Boteti Young Fighters are clear candidates for the drop.

The five teams cannot afford to lose any more games with an average of four games left before the end of the campaign.Motlakase, who at one stage looked a safe bet for a top eight finish, find themselves sinking. Selebi-Phikwe Stadium will host one of the games that could temporarily define the log at the bottom when Motlakase host Jwaneng Comets tomorrow evening. Both sides cannot afford defeat and a victory for either side will re-ignite their chances of survival while a loss could literally send one before the dreaded axe.

The game kicks off at 7pm.   Motlakase currently occupies 13th spot with 23 points from 26 games while Comets are lying in position 15 with 21 points from 26 games.

TAFIC, Killer Giants and Boteti Young Fighters face a daunting task this weekend as they face big guns. While Boteti host Extension Gunners at Itekeng Stadium tomorrow, TAFIC will have a difficult encounter against Township Rollers at Molepolole Stadium on Sunday. Bottom-placed Killer Giants host Notwane at Otse Police College also on Sunday. Boteti have played 27 games and collected 23 points. They are one place behind Motlakase and although the two are level on points, the Palapye side is ahead on goal difference.

TAFIC are better-placed to survive as they are in 12th position with 25 points from 26 games. With four games left, Killer Giants have collected only 19 points and anchor the log. Both TAFIC and Killer Giants are still to play each other.
