Hollard on a mission to save brokers

Speaking during the launch today, Hollard group chief executive officer (CEO) Saks Ntombela said that the advent of direct insurance, rapid technological innovations and disruption are putting pressure on brokers’ sustainability.

“We live in a rapidly changing world with a low growth economic environment. On top of that, evolving regulation and supervision of the insurance industry are affecting the brokers,” he said.

Ntombela said this is despite brokers playing a critical part in their industry as they know customers’ needs and can provide them with expert advice and relevant insurance cover. He said since brokers first established in Botswana, brokers have been at the core of their business model.

“Brokers remain critical to both us and our policyholders hence the launch of this campaign. The have helped us grow into the largest short-term insurer in Botswana,” he said.

According to Ntombela, the rapidly changing business environment means that both insurers and intermediaries must continually adapt their processes, systems and models to better manage risk and remain commercially viable and relevant.

He said that the campaign signals Hollard’s commitment towards their partnership with the brokers adding that they intend to help brokers make and maintain sales by providing them with administrative support and services.

“We want to move beyond the partnership so that we can become brokers’ favourite insurer; their success is our success. As much we embrace transformation, we will always partner with brokers to deliver the win to those brokers, policyholders and us,” he said.
