Botswana will be the first African country to receive this VIP aircraft. It has eight business class seats in VIP configuration and two economy class seats. According to DIS sources, eight pilots are undergoing training in the United States of America (USA).  They travel to the USA every three months for three weeks and are scheduled to collect the PC-24 sometime in November.

Meanwhile, the DIS director general, Peter Magosi has announced in a media release that Edward Robert will be appointed the agency’s Communications Officer.

Dated September 11, 2018 the media release was curiously marked ‘Confidential’ in bold red capital letters.

The release read in part, “Robert brings with him a wealth of experience in the communication field spanning 18 years.  Until this appointment (he) has been serving as editor of the Daily News”.  Robert holds Masters of Arts and BA (both in English and History) from the University of Botswana.  He also holds a Master of Arts in Finance Management and Diploma in Development Communication from Amity University and Indian Institute of Mass Communication.

The appointment follows years of covert operations that left a vacuum between the secret service and the public.  Robert’s appointment is expected to fill that vacuum.

“The appointment of the officer is a demonstration of DIS commitment to opening channels of communication between members of the public, media and ourselves,” read the press statement.
