Mojoko hoists Botswana flag at Miss Planet

The 25-year-old from Goshwe village in the North East, told Arts & Culture she was proud to be selected to represent the country on the international platform. She confidently said she would hoist the country’s flag higher by representing it very well and show the world that indeed Botswana has intelligent and talented beautiful young women.
The international pageant aims to help cancer survivors, the less fortunate and promotes awareness of a clean planet.
It also embraces women and their cultures from different countries and continents. “Miss Planet International strives to help cancer survivors to gain more confidence to get their lives back by living positively and happily. It engages them with hobbies that help them socialise because interacting and blending in with other people is essential and is also a healthy distraction.
“It also helps the less fortunate members of our communities by donating food and toiletry to them,” she said. Mojoko added that they also raise funds to help NGOs, orphanages and the Red Cross since they are having financial complications.
She pointed out that there are so many issues affecting the planet like pollution, soil erosion, deforestation, diseases and littering to mention a few. She said as Miss Planet International, the winner’s role is to aim to eliminate some of those issues.
She pointed out that they host campaigns to raise awareness on the dangers of not taking care of the planet and how the community could partake in restoring it. “As Miss Planet Botswana, I am willing to help people who need my help. I will share with them the little I have.
“I also intend to help cancer survivors get their lives back and live a normal lives.
“I am currently working on helping Red Cross Tlamelo Rehabilitation Centre.” “I am also willing to start campaigns that will be raise awareness on the importance of saving our planet.
“I aim to teach the society on different measures they can take to save the planet such as afforestation, re-use of waste materials, avoiding smoking everywhere and prevention of diseases,” she said.
She pleaded for the business community, individuals and whoever might be interested in assisting her with additional sponsorship, as the Miss Planet International organising team will only be sponsoring her accommodation, insurances and meals. She said she needs flight tickets, pageant gowns, jewellery and allowance for living while still in Cambodia, promising to represent the country well and work hard to bring the crown home.
She thanked her coach Metlha, manager at Ify of Embrace Africa, for their support and guidance in every step she took.
