Moyagoleele came into the game sitting on minus two points after the team’s onfield efforts were affected by the boardroom flaws while former Extension Gunners’ coach was making his coaching debut with the Magosi.

However on the afternoon, it was The Reds who controlled the game. In a space of two minutes, Goitseone Legopelo tried a shot while Dirang Moloi found Karabo Setoutwe with through ball, but the attacker shot straight in to the goalkeeper’s hands on the eighth and 10th minutes respectively.

On the 18th minute, Unobatsha Mbaiwa rose high to meet Bakang Leshona’s cross but went wide. GU were forced to make a substitution following an injury to Obonwe Maome. He was replaced by Thato Bolweleng in the 19th minute.

In the 26th minute, Phenyo Molefe rose highest to head a corner kick but Goitseone Phoko showed great reflexes to parry for another kick. Five minutes later, Setoutwe tried from outside the box but Kenalemang Neo was up to the task as the teams went in to the break level at 0-0.

The first 10 minutes saw both sides going for goals. Moloi and Leshona came close but both missed the target on both ends. In the 57th minute, Moloi teed up Setoutwe but the latter’s effort was saved by the keeper. The Reds eventually took the lead on the 59th minute through Kutlo Molelowamodimo, his first in GU colours.

Four minutes later, Molefe had his initial shot blocked by the defence and on the rebound Phoko superbly denied Mbaiwa. On the 69th minute, Chiefs came close again, as Onalenna Molelekwa hit the post from outside the box.

Substitute Mmoloki Kafuko also blew another chance for Magosi as Phoko tipped over the bar. Two minutes later on the other end, Ogomoditse Bauleni headed over the Legopelo’s cross. It was Magosi who missed a lot chances in front of goal as GU, who took the maximum points on the afternoon move on to a point.

“I think today was good day for the GU family in and out of the field. Of course, what happened had an impact on how we played.

At first I thought it would affect us negatively, I tried to motivate the players. You can see everybody is happy and the mood is nice,” GU assistant coach Stephen Maposa said after the game.

His counterpart Duiker, was unimpressed, slamming his players for ‘schoolboy’ mistakes. “It was bad. Losing is bad, that was school boy football. Our boys failed to tick, I don’t know what happened because they did not tick,” he said.
