Mingo Returns After Brief Retirement

Mingo Touch, whose real names are Aminoni Mujokeri announced his retirement in June after he performed during Franco’s album launch. He announced on stage that he would be quitting music to focus on his ministerial role at the Christ Embassy church located at the KB Mall in Gaborone.

“It is time to say goodbye. I have been around and would like to thank all those who have supported me throughout my music career. Thank you all for your support. I will not be performing at nightclubs or music festivals. I have decided to focus on ministering gospel through music at the church,” he said at the time.

When he spoke to Arts & Culture previously on his decision to quit music, Mingo Touch who was briefly imprisoned last year said that he used to enjoy playing in front of large crowds at nightclubs, but that has faded over time.However, the 28-year-old Mingo Touch says he has decided to make a comeback and continue releasing music while also serving God. He features Dubblin in his newly released single.

“To start with, it wasn’t an easy decision to quit the industry. I have done music for over 11 years now, but I wanted to do it. However, Vee Mampeezy and my pastor have talked me against the idea and have persuaded me to come back and continue my career,” he said.

Mingo Touch said that Vee Mampeezy who has always been his mentor convinced him that releasing his music is always a calling and another way of serving God.

“Vee really talked to me about this issue. He made me see light and I will always be grateful to him,” he added.

The Moroka-born star shot to prominence in 2005 under Black Money Makers when he released Tshaba Tsotsi, which became an instant hit. Other notable releases are Tobeletsa, Shetla Biri, Ngwaga yo Mosha, Ke Mozezuru, Somewhere and many more, which made him a household name.
