He noted that he would be leaving Gaborone this coming weekend for Maun where he will start the walk coming down south. The aim of the walk is to raise funds to host the Tlatsa Lebala event.

“I had previously announced through the media that I will be starting on first of February but that was not the confirmed day for me to start. I am leaving this coming weekend. In the meantime we have been working on the route and the map I will be using during the walk. I am set to have a meeting with my team this afternoon and discuss on when exactly I should leave but its next week,” Kast said.

When quizzed if he will postpone the walk due to the weather conditions or any other reason he said, “this is different from Tlatsa Lebala, it’s not a one day event. I will walk in the rain, if the rain is too much I will stop and get into my support car that will be following me along the way”.  He noted that the plan is to take between 25 to 27 days walking from Maun to Gaborone. “I have been advised that I should not walk more than 50 kilometres a day. I am psychologically ready for the walk,” he said.

He noted that he sort advice from Y Care charitable trust that is involved in long walks such as Makgadikgadi Pans Midnight Walk.

Along the way different people that will walk with him for a specific distance would join him.
