According to the bank manager - marketing and corporate communications services, Sandra Mokobi, the bank’s operational model has led to the sustainable growth over the years.

“Our strategy has been working for us for the past years of operation. Bank Gaborone has been a star performer in the group. This year we posted very solid results for the period ending 30, June 2018,” she said.

According to Mokobi, surviving the tight business environment in the banking sector hasn’t been easy, as a lot of people are multi-banked. She attributed Bank Gaborone’s success to the relationships they have with their clientele, noting that most of their clients were referrals.

“Relationships with clients are very important for us as a bank. We have grown over the past years of operation largely due to the relationships we had as clients at times appreciate one-on-one conversations,” she said.

Currently the bank has 10 branches across the country including Kang, Molepolole, Gantsi, Maun, Kasane, Francistown and Palapye. Recently, the bank moved their head office to their new building in the Central Business District. The building, constructed by Time Projects measures 4,500 metres squared with quality finishing and green building technologies.

“Rated at four stars, the building is a truly future forward investment and the first of its kind in Botswana,” she said

The head office comprises of a branch, a bulk cash facility, basement parking, customer designated parking areas, staff facilities, modern fittings and superior building management services.

“A consolidation of these features provides staff a conducive working environment and customers a comfortable place to do business. A branch of the future and a 24-hour cash deposit drop off for businesses will be opened at the bank’s head office premises soon,” she added

As part of their official head office launch, Bank Gaborone also introduced a new savings product portfolio. Through the Good Life Factory and the #DearFutureMe challenge, Bank Gaborone envisions to reiterate their purpose of being connectors of positive change by being a catalyst of sustainable opportunities, propagating a positive change throughout society.

“Bank Gaborone extends this challenge to all Batswana and residents of Botswana alike, calling forth people to make a saving commitment to and qualify to get 24 weeks of free financial coaching from Suero Consulting, a 100% citizen-owned financial literacy and accounting consultancy based in Gaborone” she said.
