The 26-year-old released a new single titled Shoshona, last year December. Shoshona is Perion’s debut single with his first management, Campus Events, produced by Trigger Mayne.

“Shoshona is a love song. It is a mellow sound. This song is a fusion of R&B and Afro Pop. I opted to write it in Setswana because I was trying to cater for everyone. I wanted my music to be listened to by a diverse age groups being adults and the youth,” he said.

Perion who was born and brought up in Selebi Phikwe said he wanted to show people that R&B could be sung in Setswana. He explained that he was a proud Motswana and therefore decided to promote his country and culture through his music.

“I make my music from the heart, mind and the body. Song writing comes naturally to me. I started music at an early age,” he said.

He said his music journey started when he played drums for his boys scout group at primary school. He said his love for music started at secondary school, where he played marimba and later started rap music.

He explained that as his love for music grew inside him, he found his voice and fell in love with singing than rapping.

However, the young artiste pointed out that he had a very rough upbringing. He said he was not born with a silver spoon and as a result finds comfort in music, which gives him strength to move on with his life.

“My past does not dictate my future. The best part about me is that I must always be real. I always try to be the best that I can be and not try to be or sound like anybody,” he said.

He said that makes him different from other people. The young man said he believed every person differs from other people by what he or she decides to be.

“Perion is a new rising star. I am planning to reach boarders outside Botswana because I have the potential. I am gifted. I believe that talent is given and cannot be taken. You can’t forge talent. Music to me is like a calling. It is my purpose,” he said.
