The training started on January 3 and ends today.

In 2016-2017, MEMOS hosted the 20th edition of the English postgraduate programme, offered by the University of Poitiers in France.

The first and the last modules took place at the Lausanne University, Switzerland, while two modules in between are hosted by different cities around the world. The programme is attended by 37 countries with one from Botswana. The participating countries are from Europe, America and Asia.

Speaking during the meet and greet session at Avani hotel on Monday, assistant minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Kefentse Mzwinila said Botswana is always keen to participate in the promotion of sport and Olympism. He said by bidding to host, the country wanted to contribute. “My ministry alongside BNOC wishes to see you work hard to promote sport and contribute to a better management of the Olympic sport organisations,” Mzwinila said.

“We wish to see you protect the integrity of sport and making sure that all athletes have equal opportunity to participate, and reach their full potential.”

MEMOS is a sports management postgraduate programme that is offered in three languages namely English, French and Spanish.

The programme targets professionals working in national or international sports bodies to develop the knowledge required to better manage their organisations.

The MEMOS programme is facilitated through the Olympic Solidarity and endorsed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Two of the four modules take place at the home of the IOC in Lausanne, Switzerland. Botswana is the second country in Africa, after Rwanda, to host the programme.
