Tails-up Ostriches target winless Chiefs

Magosi are on course for an undesired record as they currently sit 13th with only two points from the four games played.
They have conceded seven goals while scoring only thrice and have failed to find the net in their last three games. Their three goals came from their league opener against Extension Gunners in a match that finished 3-3.
Ahead of the Ostriches clash, Magosi have a glimpse of hope, as they are yet to lose on the road this season. The team’s assistance coach, Itumeleng Duckier said his side’s poor run is down to poor preparations in the off-season.
“We are trying to build combinations. The whole setup has been poor; we did not have a good preseason hence we are having our preparations for the whole season within the competition itself. In the past games we did not do very well, so we are hoping the weekend’s game will be a turnaround,” he said.
The former Gunners coach said he is keeping his fingers crossed as he awaits the permits of striking duo of Terrence Mandaza and Morris Ruzivo.
“I am praying and hoping that both Mandaza and Rusivo’s permits would be available before we travel to Orapa. They are both proven goal scorers and will add the necessary firepower upfront because we are failing to find the back of the net,” he said.
Chiefs would be boosted by the availability of central midfielder, Elvis Meleka and first choice goalkeeper, Siamisang Kgosipula who both have recovered from injuries.
On the other hand, the Ostriches’ coach, Bongani Mafu said his side will look to improve from their 2-0 win over Gunners in their previous outing.
He said even though Chiefs are winless, they can be dangerous.
“The mood in the camp is very high, everybody is happy at the moment but we are aware of the threat posed by Chiefs. We have to be at our best on the day. We will be playing in front of our home supporters (and) that should give us extra confidence, but we should not be comfortable against them,” he said.
United will be without instrumental midfielder, Lesego Galenamotlhale who is nursing an injury. From their four games, the team has found the back of the net five times and occupy sixth spot with seven points, three adrift of log leaders, BDF XI.
In other games, Jwaneng Galaxy will look to return to winning ways when they host Black Forest on Saturday afternoon while Gunners take on Prisons XI.
The second double header of the season will take place on Saturday at the National Stadium, with Gaborone United taking on BR Highlanders at 3.45pm while Township Rollers will host visiting Sankoyo Bush Bucks at 7pm.
