This week, the BFA announced it had dissolved all national technical teams, with only the senior side, led by David Bright, unaffected.

New measures will be introduced, including appointing a full time Under-23 coach.

Each coach is expected to have two assistants, one of them serving as a head coach for an age group below.

For instance, one of the senior team assistant coaches will be head coach for the Under-23 side, which, sources at the BFA, said was meant to ensure continuity.

The wholesome changes come as a recommendation from new BFA technical director, Letsoaka Serame.BFA marketing and public relations officer, Tumo Mpatane confirmed the changes.

“I can confirm that we are going through a restructuring of our technical department. This is meant to allow us to implement our long term development goals,” Mpatane said.

Sources said local coaches will be given more space at all junior levels, which will all but close the door on Dragojlo ‘Drago’ Stanojlovic who was in charge of the national Under-20 side.

The future of women’s senior side coach, Gaolethoo ‘Ronaldo’ Nkutlwisang remains unclear after her side fell in the group stages of the COSAFA Cup in South Africa this week.

She is a long serving member but it remains to be seen if the BFA will retain her, as the association moves from a ‘needs basis’ appointment to a more contract-based arrangement for all technical staff.Meanwhile, Bright has called-up two uncapped players for the national team’s friendly match against Namibia on Independence Day. Notwane’s Molebatsi Tlhalefo and Sharp Shooting Stars midfielder, Tshepo Malegas are expected to earn their first caps.

Bright has named a 20men squad for the friendly encounter that will be used to prepare for back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Burkina Faso in mid-October.
